INEOS makes a significant decision to acquire the petrochemical assets of TotalEnergies at Lavera

INEOS has recently agreed to obtain TotalEnergies' 50 percent stake in joint ventures Naphtachimie, Appryl, Gexaro, and 3TC. The deal also includes several infrastructure assets, including a section of TotalEnergy's ethylene pipeline network in France.
This acquisition will merge the petrochemical businesses, infrastructure, and assets of Naphthachimie, Gexaro, and Appryl into INEOS Olefins & Polymers South at Lavera in Southern France. Gexaro, located on the Lavera refinery site, will remain under Petroineos' operation.
The 50:50 joint venture of Naphtachime, between TotalEnergies and INEOS, with cutting-edge facilities and a dedicated R&D team, establishes a production unit to manufacture ethylene, propylene, butadiene, butenes, and gasoline. At the same time, Appryl is a joint venture focused on polypropylene production, while Gexaro is a joint venture producing benzene and gasoline for the Petroineos refinery. 3TC, on the other hand, is a joint venture between TotalEnergies and Petroineos, storing naphtha feedstock for the Naphtachimie steam cracker.
INEOS and TotalEnergies have reached an agreement on the acquisition of the southern sections of TotalEnergies' ethylene pipeline network by INEOS, which stretches from Lavéra to the Lyon region. Meanwhile, the central and northern sections of the pipeline network will be jointly owned by both companies. However, it is important to note that this agreement is still subject to regulatory approval and consultations, with the finalization of the deal expected to take place by the end of 2023.
INEOS, a global petrochemical manufacturer, is renowned for its commitment to providing sustainable solutions that cater to various societal needs, while TotalEnergies is a leading energy company with a broad portfolio of energy offerings, including oil, biofuels, natural gas, renewables, and electricity. This deal is expected to enhance the capabilities of both companies, allowing them to serve their customers with innovative and sustainable solutions.
According to Procurement Resource, a top petrochemical company, INEOS, plans to acquire a 50 percent share of TotalEnergies' Naphthachimie, Appryl, Gexaro, and 3TC. This collaboration aims to boost the production of ethylene, propylene, benzene, butadiene, butenes, and gasoline by establishing a manufacturing unit for these compounds.
