Coal prices have been dwindled to its worst since June 2021 in China due to overproduction and subdued demand. Considering the environmental change, green energy is replacing coal-fired power plants.
China has ramped up its solar power capacity to twice the coal power, with a growth rate of 33.7 percent per year. China is committed to strengthening its renewable energy, which has weakened the growth of coal-powered energy translating to a meagre 1.8 percent of increase per year. China has installed a power generating station that has the capacity of producing 2.62 billion kilowatts without employing fossil fuel which sums up 50.5 percent of the total capacity.

In addition, Europe has decreased its import of coal due to an excess of inventory. The price of seaborne thermal coal in Asia has also been affected by reduced demand in Europe and falling liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices.
