In July, the cost of waste paper jumped by 10% to 15%, and by the last week of August, demand for Kraft will grow

Demand For Kraft Will Grow

The Indian market has experienced a rise in the price rates of waste paper, marking around 10-15% growth in the month of July. Several factors have influenced the price rates of waste paper in the Indian market. The seasonal changes, specifically during the rains, have affected the regular paper collections, declining the waste paper availability.

The northern regions, like Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, experience irregular precipitation, affecting collection activities and preventing the collectors from going for door-to-door service. It ultimately leads to the storage owners' unwillingness to buy and store the waste papers in a dry place. The routes are also blocked due to the kawad yatra in India, which also affects the collection activity.

Moreover, the demand for the product has been influenced by these factors, and the rise in its rate, especially the kraft paper, is leading to a decrease in the availability of the products. It is expected to stay the same for another 15-16 days and may vary with the variations in the demand rate and availability of the waste papers. Along with that, the market for the pure white paper variety has been declining since the availability of waste paper has been affected. However, waste paper grades like HBR Farma, Scan board, Super REC, sorted books, old books, and Pepsi cutting have witnessed significant growth in the prices rates, of the same.

A few factories and paper mills are increasing the rates due to the rise in the price of imported waste paper materials. The increase in the number of pending orders is also impacting the finished paper rates. Major challenges, such as the moderate growth rate of the paper industry and the diminishing exportation activities, are also affecting the price trend of the paper market. However, the market has been very stable and consistent due to the constant demand for paper products for writing and printing purposes. Hence, keeping the paper market functional with timely price variations.

According to Procurement Resource, the waste paper prices have significantly increased by around 10-15% in the month of July. The prices have fluctuated over the last few months due to the seasonality factor and the decrease in storage activity. The different price trends of the paper varieties have impacted the import and export business, resulting in the current price values prevailing in the Indian Market.
