PPG Carries Out The USD 15-Million Expansion Of Brazil, Ind., Powder Coatings Plant

PPG (NYSE: PPG) recently declared the conclusion of its Brazil, Ind., powder coatings production facility's USD 15-million investment. The facility employing 90 people, has undergone an expansion of 20,000 square feet to make room for two state-of-the-art lines for bonded metallic powder and automated packaging capabilities.

PPG celebrated this development by doing a ribbon-cutting event at the facility, which took place on April 26, that was attended by plant employees, company leaders, government officials and community members.

Kevin Braun, the PPG vice president of global Industrial Coatings, stated that an expansion of this scale requires a significant amount of time, dedication, and effort from employees, leaders, and the community. He thanked the great PPG team and the Brazil community for the facility's successful expansion.

The plant provides consumers from the appliance and general industrial manufacturing industries. These developments will improve the ability of PPG to provide powder consumers with better product and process quality control whilst reducing lead times for colour matching and production.

Marizeth Carvalho, the global business director, powder and general manager, PPG, Latin America South, stated that powder is the most rapidly booming coatings technology worldwide, and they are determined to fulfil this rising demand via R&D, acquisitions and investments to improve their abilities and extend their global footprint. A crucial factor propelling the prompt adoption of powder coatings is the shifting interest in more sustainably advantaged solutions.

Usually, powder coatings are formulated in the absence of solvents that emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and can be reused and recycled during the end-use process. The focus on powder coatings allows PPG and its clients to reach sustainability goals.

Brazil's facility expansion is a part of the company's strategic efforts for expanding its powder coatings offerings as well as boosting production to fulfil the increasing customer demand. Along with this development, PPG intents to introduce around 12 new jobs at the location.

Following 2019, PPG has concentrated on increasing the powder coatings capacity and capabilities, carrying out four strategic acquisitions and extending manufacturing and service parts at seven powder plants all over the world. Extra capacity expansions all over the U.S. and Latin America are under plans for 2023.
