As per Adolfo Usro, the agreement was expected to get finalized by the end of July, which is now extended further by the end of September. The industry minister mentioned that they might get ready with a preliminary plan set ready with Stellantis by the end of September. The objective of the project is not only related to the carmakers and the government but also associated with the unions, local government bodies, and the lobby group, which is termed ANIFA. As per the union sources, the program is expected to be announced as early as September 10.

Key automakers, such as Alfa Romeo, Jeep, and Peugeot, have produced less than 700,000 cars and vans in Italy in the year 2021 and 2022, which is expected to exceed around 800,000 units this year. The Italian automotive market has produced around one million cars, the latest by 2017. Evidently, the Italian automotive market is a bit behind in the production of electric cars compared to the other European countries in the global market.
