Liquid Bleach Price Trend and Forecast

Regional Price Overview

Get the latest insights on price movement and trend analysis of Liquid Bleach in different regions across the world (Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, and the Middle East & Africa).

For the First Half of 2022

Asia

With the reemergence of covid-19 and strict precautionary restrictions, factories' output suffered causing the prices of liquid bleach to rise drastically amid the increasing demand. The higher prices led to the phenomenon of demand destruction, hence the prices dwindled and stabilized after a while. The removal of restrictions caused the factories to churn out products at faster rates but the cautious buying activity of the market did not let the prices of liquid bleach increase beyond a certain level.

Europe

The price of liquid bleach was observed to rise on the European market as a result of supplies being impacted and industrial activity being interrupted by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The European market first observed chlorine shortages due to varied production cutbacks in late March. Liquid chlorine prices jumped by more than 5% in March. The prices of liquid chlorine remained strong in the second quarter owing to the robust demand from the home-care industries.

North America

Prices for liquid bleach increased as a result of numerous chlor-alkali plant closures in North America during the first quarter of 2022. Businesses were under pressure as a result of the shortage of goods brought on by these interruptions. Buyers in May showed enthusiasm for their purchases as they anticipated a severe chlorine shortage in the second quarter of 2022. Because of this, liquid bleach prices rose in the american domestic market.

Production Processes

  • Production of Liquid Bleach from Sodium Hydroxide and Chlorine

Liquid Bleach is prepared by absorbing chlorine gas in a cold sodium hydroxide solution. The reaction process yields sodium chloride, sodium hypochlorite and water as products. There is no need to isolate them to prepare sodium hypochlorite as NaCl obtained is further subjected to electrolysis producing NaClO.
