Corn Gluten Feed Production From Maize Grain’s Wet Milling
Production Cost Report | Agriculture, Farming and Commodity
Details: Germany - based plant Q1 2024 | From $ USD
This report provides a comprehensive cost evaluation of corn gluten feed production from maize grain’s wet milling. This process begins with the steeping of maize grain with sulfur dioxide at around 48-52°C for almost 24 to 40 hours. This process weakens the intermolecular and intramolecular disulfide bonds of the gluten matrix. Further, this process leads corn grains to release approximately 6-6.5% of dry substance into the steepwater and the corn grains at this point contains 45% of water.
Later, the maize kernels are ground coarsely leading to the separation of germs from the endosperm yielding maize germ oil meal. The remaining steep water can be turned into steep liquor. Further, upon screening, the fibre content from the gluten and starch slurry is separated. Finally, fibre is mixed with steep liquor and maize germ oil meal to produce Corn Gluten Feed.
