INOXAP pens an agreement with AIS for the production of new float glass manufacturing plant using green hydrogen

Float glass manufacturing plant using green hydrogen

Asahi India Glass Limited (AIS) has entered into a 20-year agreement with INOX Air Products (INOXAP) for the supply of green hydrogen to its new float glass manufacturing facility in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. Under this landmark partnership, INOXAP has commissioned India's first green hydrogen plant for the glass industry, featuring a 190-ton annual production capacity powered entirely by solar energy. The initial phase will deliver 95 tons of green hydrogen annually through electrolysis, enabling AIS to reduce its carbon emissions by approximately 1,250 metric tons per year while pioneering sustainable glass production methods.

The collaboration represents a significant step in India's clean energy transition, with INOXAP overseeing the complete hydrogen production and supply chain while AIS has invested in the dedicated solar power infrastructure. INOXAP's Managing Director Siddharth Jain described the project as a testament to the company's technical capabilities and commitment to decarbonization, signaling plans to extend green hydrogen solutions to other industries.
