GAIL and LanzaTech, a US-based company, have formed a collaboration to establish pilot projects for carbon capture

The Gas Authority of India Limited- GAIL, which is a key gas company of India, along with LanzaTech from the US, have shaken hands to set up a pilot project that aims to capture carbon dioxide. The majors are focusing on controlling carbon emissions, which would initiate a method aiming toward a greener and safer environment. The project is an initiative to capture carbon prevailing in the surrounding and convert it to useful sources.

The chairman and managing director of GAIL, India, addressed the conference by stating that the collaboration would bear great sustainable results as the contemporary technology from LanzaTech would enhance the carbon conversion and indirectly its utilizations that would result in building a safer surrounding.

Elaborating on the advanced technology provided by LanzaTech, it works like a brewery where the bacteria consume the pollution that is rich in carbon content and then converts it to an industrial chemical that is further utilized to generate fuels, plastics, and rubber materials. The products or materials manufactured are then used to produce textiles, fabrics, and clothing. The CEO of LanzaTech has stated that the waste CO2 can be further utilized to make or produce the things we need.

The Indian firm controls around 70% of the total domestic gas transmission share and more than 50% of the gas trading business. It mainly intends to attain a net zero carbon emission from its overall activities till 2040.

According to the Procurement Resource, the collaboration between GAIL and LanzaTech mainly intends to focus on bringing about a greener society while controlling the carbon emission and converting it to useful chemicals that can be utilized further to generate useful commercial products. This collaboration strengthens the ultimate goals of maintaining and promoting sustainability on a global scale and hence, is a beneficial initiative.
