Gandhar Oil Refinery inks a non-binding MoU with JNPA

Gandhar Oil Refinery (India) Limited, an oil manufacturing company, has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) to collaborate on developing a modern terminal at Vadhvan Port. The terminal will handle multiple types of cargo, including containers, bulk, and liquid goods, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and capacity.

The project focuses on comprehensive infrastructure development, incorporating advanced marine services, improved intermodal connectivity, and sustainable ecosystem practices. Additionally, it will integrate cutting-edge digital solutions, robust IT infrastructure, and specialized training programs to upskill manpower.

With an estimated investment of around Rs. 1,000 crore, the project is set to commence in 2030 following a transparent competitive bidding process. Once the bid is finalized and approved, the parties will formalize the partnership through a binding MoU or definitive agreement, marking a significant step in port infrastructure advancement.

Gandhar Oil Refinery, established in 1992, is a leading manufacturer of specialty oils and lubricants, including white oils, automotive lubricants, and industrial oils. It is headquartered in Mumbai. The company serves industries such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, plastics, and automotive, with products like transformer oils, rubber processing oils, and petroleum jelly.

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA)

JNPA, operational since 1989, is India’s largest container port, and is located in Navi Mumbai. The port manages five terminals, including Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT) and Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal (BMCT), with plans to expand capacity to 10 million TEUs. JNPA is also developing the Vadhvan Port project to enhance logistics infrastructure and hinterland connectivity.
