Gasum, an energy firm, is set to acquire a controlling stake in LiquidGas Biofuel Genesis, a biogas upgrading plant operator
Gasum, a well-known Nordic energy company, has announced its plans to expand its biogas portfolio by acquiring two-thirds of the shares in Liquidgas Biofuel Genesis AB, a Swedish company that operates a biogas upgrading plant in Helsinborg, southern Sweden. This acquisition is a significant step forward for Gasum, which is already the leading supplier of biogas in the Nordic countries. Gasum has a vast network of gas-filling stations that serve heavy-duty vehicles, making it an ideal choice for businesses looking to switch to renewable energy sources.
In addition to its biogas portfolio, Gasum is also the leading liquefied natural gas (LNG) player in the Nordic market. The company provides LNG to Finland, Sweden, and Norway's heavy-duty vehicles, industries, and marine transportation. Gasum aims to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 1.8 million tonnes annually for its customer. To achieve this, Gasum is currently constructing the first of five new biogas facilities in Gotene, Sweden. This is a significant contribution to the global effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
By 2027, Gasum intends to provide the market with seven terawatt hours of renewable gas per year. By boosting biogas production and sourcing from trustworthy partners, the firm intends to achieve this. In order to facilitate the transportation and distribution of the renewable energy source, Gasum is also looking into the prospect of liquefying the gas on-site in the future.
One of the most significant benefits of using biogas is its low carbon footprint. When compared to traditional fossil fuels, biogas emits 90 percent lower emissions throughout its entire life cycle. As a result, businesses that adopt biogas can make a remarkable contribution to the environment by significantly decreasing their carbon dioxide emissions.
According to Procurement Resource, by acquiring Liquidgas Biofuel Genesis AB and constructing new biogas plants, Gasum is taking a significant step forward in its efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and promote more sustainable energy practices. Gasum is already building one of the five new biogas plants in Gotene, Sweden, which is a significant step toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
