AGEL and TotalEnergies penned a joint venture to amplify the generation of 1,150 MW of solar power at Khavda
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) and TotalEnergies have teamed up in a joint venture, each holding an equal share, to oversee a collection of solar projects that together generate 1,150 MW of power. These projects are part of the largest renewable energy plant in the world, located in Khavda, Gujarat.
In this partnership, AGEL brings its existing assets to the table, and TotalEnergies is injecting a $444 million to push the projects forward faster, substantiated by AGEL’s dexterity in scaling up green energy production. The electricity from these projects will be sold through Power Purchase Agreements with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and in the wholesale market.
AGEL is leading the charge in developing this mega plant in Khavda, which spans 538 square kilometers. So far, AGEL has brought 2,250 MW of solar and wind capacity online at this location. When fully operational, this facility will supply clean, affordable energy to over 16 million homes across India, create over 15,200 green jobs, and cut CO2 emissions by around 58 million tons each year.
This deal's finalization is pending standard closing conditions, including getting the necessary regulatory nods.
