  • Production via extraction from Mineral Beryl: The process is initiated by mixing beryl with sodium fluorosilicate and soda to produce sodium fluroberyllate, aluminium oxide, and silicon dioxide, followed by the precipitation of beryllium hydroxide. Further, it is converted into beryllium fluoride, which is then heated to 900 to 1300°C with magnesium, finally producing the compact metal.

Beryllium appears as a silvery-white soft metal and is corrosion-resistant. The molecular weight of the metal is 9.01218 g/mol. The boiling point of beryllium is 2770 °C, and its melting point is 1277 °C. The density of the metal is approximately 1.85 mg/m³. It is a shiny and hard metal and is thus, used to make gemstones.

Beryllium compounds including beryllium chloride, nitrate, fluoride, sulfate, and phosphate are completely soluble in water, while other compounds, like beryllium oxide are either slightly soluble or completely insoluble. Moreover, it has high thermal conductivity and is also considered as a good conductor of electricity. Beryllium is inert under normal temperature conditions. It reacts with hydrochloric acid to give beryllium chloride and hydrogen gas. It does not react with water.
