Camphene Production Cost Reports
Chemicals
Camphene production cost report provides a comprehensive analysis and know-how for setting up a Camphene production plant. The study covers all the requisite aspects that one needs to know for the production of Camphene. This includes manufacturing processes, raw material requirements, utility requirements, infrastructure requirements, machinery and technology requirements, manpower requirements, packaging requirements, transportation requirements, etc.
Camphene (C10H16) is a carbocyclic organic compound that is one of the pervasive monoterpenes comprising iso-bornyl acetate. It used to be a fuel source for lamps owing to its flammable properties, as it was less expensive than whale oil. It is naturally present in oils of fir and hemlock It is obtained by pinene's catalytic isomerisation. It is produced using high-quality turpentine (using primarily pinene) as a raw material, following the vacuum distillation method using hydrated titanium oxide as a catalyst.
Camphene appears to be a colourless to white waxy crystalline low melting solid with an insipid camphor-like odour. It is practically insoluble in water (0.0042g/l) and somewhat soluble in water. By nature, it is volatile and, upon heating, releases flammable vapours. Its dust and crystals can cause irritation in the nose, eyes and throat. It also emits acrid smoke and fumes that cause irritation at elevated temperatures. Its molar mass is 136.23, and its density is 0.85 g/mL at 25 °C (lit.). Its respective melting, boiling and flash points are 48-52 °C (lit.), 159-160 °C (lit.) and 94°F.
Camphene is mainly used for producing fragrances as a camphor substitute, as a food additive in flavouring or for texturising resins and lacquers, which is driving its market growth. Furthermore, it finds application in everyday household products like citronella oil candles, bug repellents, and other skin-care products, including lotions and ointments. In the medical sector, it is extensively used owing to its antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Also, it has usage in small quantities to make several essential oils such as turpentine, cypress, and camphor, among others.
