Magnesium Phosphate's neutralizing capacity is less than that of magnesium carbonate but greater than that of magnesium trisilicate. It typically exists as a crystalline white powder and can be present in dibasic and tribasic forms. When heated to around 400 °C, Magnesium Phosphate generally loses all its water content. It is a non-flammable solid, typically prepared through a chemical reaction between magnesium sulfate and disodium phosphate. The pH of Magnesium Phosphate ranges between 6 and 9.5. In reactions, it can generate phosphoric acid and magnesium hydroxide when reacted with water, and phosphoric acid and magnesium chloride when reacted with hydrochloric acid.

In terms of applications, Magnesium Phosphate is utilized in both the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. In the chemical industry, it is primarily used in the synthesis of other magnesium salts. As a good source of magnesium and phosphorus, it finds use in the production of pharmaceutical products. It is incorporated into certain painkillers that aid in treating headaches, toothaches, muscle pains, and cramps. Additionally, Magnesium Phosphate is used as a pH control agent and stabilizer in dietary supplements.
