Natural Latex is latex that is in a 100% liquid state. In order to turn into a solid state, the liquid latex must be vulcanized. Hence, a mix of natural rubber (90-95%), zinc oxide (2-3%), fatty acid soaps, sulfur, and sodium (1-2%) is made that undergo vulcanization, foaming, and curing. The result is washed around three times to get rid of residuals, finally yielding 98% natural latex rubber.
Natural Latex is harvested from rubber trees grown in tropical regions and is completely natural. It is a milky white liquid that is very soft and elastic. Natural latex contains proteins, phospholipids, carbohydrates, and amino acids. Natural Latex can handle physical stressors, like wear, tear, abrasion, and fatigue, and can work at various different temperatures. It can also resist water, alcohol, and some kinds of chemicals. However, it is vulnerable to some substances, like fats, oils, and greases.
Natural Latex, in its solid content of 30%-35%, which owing to its high elasticity properties, is processed using chemicals. It is also referred to as SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) and is the second most essential natural rubber. SBS (styrene-butadiene copolymer) or CR (chloroprene rubber), with a solid content of 35%-40%, is used for several applications like automotive, baby products, etc. This kind of rubber has better resistance to chemicals, oil, and abrasion than natural latex; and is more resistant to heat and ozone oxidation.
Hence, owing to the following properties of the product, its market demand across various industries is propelling. Additionally, in consumer goods, it is added to products such as gloves and condoms. Furthermore, natural latex, used in industrial applications furthers the market's expansion.
