Olmesartan is an antihypertensive agent and is a synthetic biphenylyltetrazole. The molecular formula of the compound is C24H26N6O3, and its molar mass is 446.5 g/mol.  The IUPAC name of the compound is 5-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-2-propyl-3-[[4-[2-(2H-tetrazol-5-yl)phenyl]phenyl]methyl]imidazole-4-carboxylic acid.

It appears as a light yellowish crystalline powder that is not readily soluble in water but dissolves to 20mM in DMSO. The melting point and the boiling point of the compound are 175-180°C and 800ºC, respectively. It is generally sold under the name Benicar.
