It appears as an odorless, colorless granular solid and is readily soluble in water and ethanol and very less soluble in diethyl ether. The molecular formula of the compound is C13H11NO5, and its molecular weight is 261.23 g/mol. Moreover, the compound is also known by its other names, which include Nidantin, Utibid, Gramurin, and Dioxacin. The IUPAC name of the compound is 5-ethyl-8-oxo-5,8-dihydro[1,3]dioxolo[4,5-g]quinoline-7-carboxylic acid, and its pKa value is 6.9 at 25 degrees Celsius.
