Potassium Dichromate Production Cost Reports

Chemicals

Potassium Dichromate production cost report provides a comprehensive analysis and know-how for setting up a Potassium Dichromate production plant. The study covers all the requisite aspects that one needs to know for the production of Potassium Dichromate. This includes manufacturing processes, raw material requirements, utility requirements, infrastructure requirements, machinery and technology requirements, manpower requirements, packaging requirements, transportation requirements, etc.

Potassium Dichromate is an orange-red colored solid compound consisting of two potassium, two chromium, and seven oxygen atoms, with the chemical formula K2Cr2O7. Its molecular weight is 294.18 g/mol. This odorless chemical has a bitter taste. Its melting and boiling points are around 398 °C and 500 °C, respectively. It is a reddish crystalline solid soluble in water but insoluble in alcohol. Though denser than water, Potassium Dichromate is not hygroscopic but is deliquescent, remaining stable under normal conditions. It is more stable than sodium dichromate in humid atmospheres.

This non-combustible solid decomposes when heated to high temperatures, typically decomposing at its boiling point and emitting toxic fumes of potassium oxides. Despite being non-flammable, it can support the combustion of other materials. It acts as a strong oxidizer, essential in various chemical reactions. Its density is about 2.676 g/cm3 at 25 °C. It decomposes at 500 °C, generating chromic oxide and chromic acid, and is known to be a strong carcinogenic oxidant with poor solubility at low temperatures.

Potassium Dichromate is a widely used laboratory reagent and a significant player in the chemical industry. It is a key component in producing potassium chrome alum, mainly used in leather tanning. Additionally, it is a raw material for synthesizing chemicals like chromic acid, an etchant for glass. Its applications extend to construction, chemical, photographic, coating, and color industries. In cement mixtures, it enhances density and color. It also serves as a hardening agent for substances like carbon black, gum Arabic, and gelatin, and is employed as a strong oxidizer in various chemical reactions to produce other chemical products.
