Warfarin Production Cost Reports
Healthcare
The report provides a detailed analysis essential for establishing a Warfarin manufacturing plant. It encompasses all critical aspects necessary for Warfarin production, including the cost of Warfarin production, Warfarin plant cost, Warfarin production costs, and the overall Warfarin manufacturing plant cost. Additionally, the study covers specific expenditures associated with setting up and operating a Warfarin production plant. These encompass manufacturing processes, raw material requirements, utility requirements, infrastructure needs, machinery and technology requirements, manpower requirements, packaging requirements, transportation requirements, and more.
Warfarin is used as an anticoagulant drug that helps in blood thinning, hence treating several complications linked with blood clotting. It works to prevent and treat thromboembolic events and venous thrombosis. It can be used to reduce atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, stroke, or heart attack. It inhibits the Vitamin K epoxide reductase complex 1. Due to this mechanism of action, it decreases the generation of active clotting factors by depleting functional vitamin K stores. Thus, it finds its applications in the pharmaceutical and medical industries.
The procurement of Warfarin is influenced by its use as an oral anticoagulant medication in the pharmaceutical and medical industries. It inhibits the production of clotting factors to treat blood clotting conditions. The global demand for Warfarin is directly affected by venous thromboembolism, cardiovascular disorders, and other blood-related diseases that are becoming more common in recent times. The number of obese individuals has increased, and the population is aging, which also increases the demand for Warfarin.
Due to the increasing awareness among patients about healthcare and accepting the novel oral anticoagulants, there has been a surge in demand for this product. In addition, developments made in genetic testing have improved the accuracy of Warfarin therapy, thus enhancing its market growth. Therefore, industrial procurement of warfarin depends on its therapeutic effectiveness in medical and pharmaceutical industries, increased cases of blood-related disorders, an aging population with respect to healthcare awareness increase on novel NOACS’, genetics testing among others including logistics & distribution and regulatory approvals.
Raw Material for Warfarin Production
According to the Warfarin manufacturing plant project report, the key raw materials used in the production of Warfarin include 4-hydroxycoumarin - benzalacetone.
Manufacturing Process of Warfarin
The extensive Warfarin production cost report consists of the following major industrial manufacturing process:
- Production from 4-hydroxycoumarin and benzalacetone: The manufacturing process of Warfarin involves several steps. The first step is the production of Racemic Warfarin. Racemic Warfarin is produced in a single step through a conjugate addition reaction involving 4-hydroxycoumarin and benzalacetone. The racemic Warfarin is then treated with quinidine to form diastereomeric salts, which are separated by crystallization using a mixture of acetone and chloroform. The quinidine-(S)-Warfarin salt precipitates out as a solid, while the quinidine-(R)-Warfarin remains in the filtrate. The solid and liquid fractions are processed separately to isolate the pure (S) and (R) enantiomers of Warfarin.
Warfarin, commonly known as Coumadin, is an odorless, tasteless, and colorless to white crystalline solid, having the molecular formula C19H16O4 and a molecular weight of 308.3 g/mol. Its melting point is 161°C. Its solubility in water is 17mg/L (at 20 °C). It is soluble in acetone and dioxane, moderately soluble in ethanol, methanol, and isopropanol, freely soluble in alkaline aqueous solution, and practically insoluble in benzene and cyclohexane. It has a relative density (water=1) of 1.4. Its pKa value is 5.87. Warfarin is an anticoagulant drug that is used to treat conditions related to blood clotting by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for producing clotting factors.
