North America
The North American 2-EHA market showed distinct trends throughout Q4'24. The quarter started with firm pricing supported by stable domestic demand and elevated production costs. However, as the period progressed, the market faced downward pressure from abundant ethylene supply due to record US production levels. While acrylic acid costs remained relatively stable, the overall market dynamics led to margin pressure for producers. The region maintained steady production rates despite increasing competition from imports, but prices gradually declined through the quarter as supply remained ample against moderate demand.

The price trajectory of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (2-EHA) was rather fluctuating throughout the Asian market. Initially, the prices kept towards the higher side of the scale given the high prices of feedstocks acrylic acid and 2-ethylhexyl alcohol (2-EH). Owing to the maintenance shutdowns and lower stocks amidst robust demands the prices of feedstocks rose providing the required momentum to the 2-EHA market. However, soon this momentum fizzled out as the plants started running full capacity leading to ample supply in the market.
Further, the downstream demand from the plasticizers industry weakened given the fragile conditions of the global economy which led to cautious buying habits amongst the buyers. The prices fell gradually throughout August and September; however, the prices stabilized towards the end of the discussed quarter. The market demand returned to a positive level post the holiday season in China which led to active hoarding amongst the buyers thereby, causing the prices to rise. Hence, 2-EHA prices consolidated towards the end of discussed quarter.
Europe
The 2-Ethylhexyl Acrylate market in Germany maintained stability throughout Q3 2024. This stability was attributed to balanced supply-demand dynamics and a stagnant economy, which dampened activity in downstream sectors. Reduced demand was adequately met by existing inventory levels, preventing supply shortages.
