Asia
In the third quarter of 2025, ammonium chloride prices in Asia, especially in China, showed a mostly weak and fluctuating trend. Supply levels remained high throughout the quarter, as upstream ammonia production increased and output from related chemical processes stayed steady.
The material is often produced as a by-product in soda ash-related production, and since soda ash production held steady, this kept supply pressure on the ammonium chloride market. Demand from agriculture stayed quiet due to the off-season, while industrial buyers only made purchases based on immediate needs. Prices saw brief support in July from plant maintenance and reduced ammonia availability, but this was short-lived. By August and into September, high inventories and weak demand continued to limit any strong price recovery.
Europe
In Europe, ammonium chloride prices remained under pressure during Q3. With upstream ammonia markets already weak and soda ash-related production steady, supply conditions were comfortable. However, demand remained limited, particularly from agricultural and feed sectors, which did not show much seasonal activity.
Industrial buying also stayed cautious. Without major supply issues or strong demand drivers, prices moved mostly sideways or trended slightly down. The market remained quiet, with little sign of major changes throughout the quarter.
North America
In North America, ammonium chloride prices were fairly stable but lacked strength during the third quarter. Ammonia production was steady, and there were no major supply disruptions. Meanwhile, related industries that typically generate ammonium chloride as a by-product were operating normally, so supply remained sufficient.
On the demand side, activity from agriculture stayed low, and industrial use did not show significant growth. As a result, prices moved in a narrow range with little volatility. Buyers continued to purchase only what they needed, and inventory levels were manageable.
Analyst Insight
According to Procurement Resource, Ammonium Chloride prices are expected to stay range-bound in the coming quarter. Supply is likely to remain steady, and any price change will depend on how much downstream demand improves in the coming months.
