PCBL Chemical collaborates with Ningxia Jinhua Chemical Co. to set up an acetylene black plant in India

PCBL Chemical Ltd has penned a technology transfer agreement with China-based Ningxia Jinhua Chemical Co. for the production of acetylene black in India. The company plans to establish its first acetylene black plant in the country to cater to the growing demand from the Indian battery industry and to export to global markets, including the battery, semiconductor, and conductive materials sectors. This move aligns with the company’s strategy to build resilient supply chains for critical conductive materials.
Acetylene black, a high-end conductive chemical, is used in applications such as high-voltage power cables, lithium-ion batteries, EV charging, semiconductor packaging, and conductive plastics, paints, and coatings. The addition of acetylene black to PCBL’s portfolio strengthens its capabilities in the conductive materials segment, complementing its existing offerings under brands like Bleumina for engineered plastics, Nutone for inks and coatings, and Energia for conductive applications.
PCBL has been expanding its specialty portfolio in recent years, launching over 50 grades across various applications. The company also established a joint venture, Nanovace Technologies Ltd, to develop nano-silicon products for lithium-ion battery anodes, with a pilot plant expected to be operational soon. The acquisition of acetylene black technology supports PCBL’s strategy to align with global macro trends such as energy transition, grid renewal, auto electrification, and semiconductor industry growth.
