Emirates adopts SAF supplied by Neste for the first time from Singapore Changi Airport

Emirates adopts SAF supplied by Neste

Emirates has recently started using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supplied by Neste for its flights departing from Singapore Changi Airport. This initiative makes Emirates the first international carrier to utilize SAF at this location, sourced from Neste’s refinery in Singapore. Over the last few weeks, more than 2,600 tons (approximately 3.3 million liters) of blended SAF have been integrated into the fueling system at Changi Airport to support Emirates' operations.

This development is a part of a broader partnership between Emirates and Neste that was established in October 2023. Prior to this, earlier in the year, Emirates had already received over 6,000 tons of blended SAF from Neste at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operating Officer at Emirates, emphasized that this initiative marks a significant step in their SAF adoption efforts in Asia. He acknowledged that while this is a pivotal move, considerable work remains to be done to secure a steady, long-term supply of SAF to support their operations fully.

Alexander Kueper, Vice President of Renewable Aviation Business at Neste, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration. He highlighted that this supply marks the beginning of Emirates using SAF produced at Neste's Singapore facility, which is part of an integrated supply chain, underscoring a significant step in their ongoing efforts to enhance the availability of sustainable fuel solutions for Emirates’ operations.
