Topsoe furthers to assist an Australian plant with green ammonia production
Topsoe, a company specializing in carbon emission reduction technologies, is set to provide its green ammonia technology to Allied Green Ammonia Pty Ltd's plant in Gove, Northern Territory, Australia. The plant, operational by late 2028 or early 2029, aims to produce approximately 25,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia daily. This green ammonia will primarily serve the growing South East Asian markets where there's an increasing demand for e-fuels.

The production process will be powered by Topsoe's DynAMMO technology, which allows for a flexible operation that can adjust production rates in response to the hydrogen supply's variability. This adaptability is expected to lead to significant savings in both capital and operational expenses, potentially reducing or eliminating the need for hydrogen storage systems.
Kim Hedegaard, CEO Power-to-X at Topsoe, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Allied. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with Topsoe's goal of providing technologies that support the transition to Net Zero, particularly through the production of e-fuels suitable for energy-intensive industries and long-haul transport.
Furthermore, Allied is exploring the addition of Topsoe's solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOEC) to bolster green hydrogen production efficiency, which would complement the dynamic ammonia technology.
Alfred Benedict, the Founder and Managing Director of Allied, highlighted the strategic advantages of Gove's location and existing infrastructure, projecting it to result in Australia's lowest levelized cost for producing green ammonia.
The project has garnered support from the Gumatj Corporation and the Northern Territory government, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing green ammonia development.
