Guy Barnett, the Tasmanian Minister for Energy and Renewables, emphasized that this international collaboration resonates with the strategies laid out in the Tasmanian Renewable Hydrogen Action Plan and the Tasmanian Green Hydrogen International Engagement and Export Strategy. Tasmania envisions becoming a dominant force in large-scale green hydrogen production by 2030, catering to both local and international markets.

Barnett expressed confidence that these strategic areas of focus will enable Tasmania to develop global supply chains, fostering economic growth, technological advancements in hydrogen, and skill enhancement. He further added, "Tasmania, with its 100% renewable energy sources, vast water resources, and well-equipped port infrastructure, is ideally positioned to harness these significant opportunities alongside international associates."

The Tasmanian Government recognizes Bremen and its port city, Bremerhaven, as sharing a vision for green hydrogen analogous to their own. Kristina Vogt, Bremen's senator for economic affairs, ports, and transformation, stressed the importance of sharing knowledge and experiences in research, innovation, and development with Tasmania. She highlighted Tasmania's evident commitment to green hydrogen, stating that worldwide teamwork is vital for transitioning to green energy.

Vogt also mentioned that this collaboration could significantly benefit the hydrogen industry's progress in Northern Germany. This JDI with Bremen comes after Tasmania signed green hydrogen-focused memoranda of understanding with the Flanders region in Belgium in 2022 and the Port of Rotterdam in 2021.
